| "Cruzin Grand" is one of the major
weekly cruise nights in Southern California. It happens along Grand
Ave in downtown Escondido, CA every Friday night during the summer. On this
night, August 26th, several SDP members came by not just for the cruize,
but because Tom Tjaarda was making an impromtu appearance giving several
of us a chance to meet him. For those of you that don't know, Tom
Tjaarda ("char-da") is the designer of the Pantera. Tom was as
gracious as could be. He stood around chatting with us for a long
time, about the Pantera, cars in general and his current projects.
Those include an outragious SUV, actually a PSV (Personal Security
Vehicle). As you might guess, its a highly secure fortfied SUV.
And another exciting project, the next generation of the Shelby Series
One. After we finished talking, Tom went for a walk down Grand Ave to
take in the sites and sounds of this fantastic cruizing event.
Before Tom took off, he was kind enough to indulge several of us by
providing his signature for various artifacts, including some of our
cars! |

several member's cars.
