The 2006 NAAR / Autism Speaks "Walk For
Autism" is an annual fund raising event staged by the National
Alliance for Autism Research and Autism Speaks. The event is held at
the Coors Amphitheater in Chula Vista. Hundreds of people showed up
for a kid-centric event where participants walk a one mile course around
the large parking lot. The short distance ensures maximum
participation by people of all ages.
Our great friends Jeff and Carlee Goodall have done this event for a
few years and they had no problem convincing other club members that this
would be a great way to spend a Sunday morning. The Goodall's, aka
Team Rhino Bar raised an unprecedented $20,000+ for the event, exceeding
even the biggest sponsor of the event, (Papa John's Pizza)!
Jeff and Carlee brought the amazing Dormobile and they cooked fresh
breakfast burritos and served cold beer on tap.
We turned the event into a mini car show too. We had seven
Panteras and a Tiger and as usual the cars brought smiles from kids as
well as some of the parents.
Thanks to all those who partipated and/or donated, to the cause.
You should all be proud.
This will surely become an annual event for the club, we hope for even
bigger participation next year.
